My real passion is creating experiences that people can interact with and be a part of, regardless of any phyiscal limitations. Primarily I like to work with sensors, and use technology in a manner that is non-obtrusive to the overall moment.
An early demonstration of a nine-axis gyroscope being used to facilitate control of audio through movement. Dancer Valkyrie Yao and I worked together to create the sounds and samples she wanted to trigger during her performance. I fully designed the soundscape and programmed the gyroscope sensor for this project, while Valkyrie handled the motion performance.
Key Responsibilities:
- Project Design and Management
-Interactive Design
- Sound Design (MaxMSP)
-Gyroscopic Sensor Programming (MaxMSP)
This project was a unique challenge; to create a anatomically correct, articulated joint using easily sourced materials. I solo designed and fabricated a working knee joint controlled by a pneumatic foot medal. Fun fact: the cartilage was created by dipping the bones in a bowl of hot glue!
Key Responsibilities:
- Project Design and Documentation
- Fabrication (Sculpting, CAD Design & Printing)
A personal project created in 2022 that utilized an Arduino, five piezo sensors, and individually programmable LED lights to create a system that would light up different wooden pads when one was tapped.
Though the demo worked very well, the project was not developed further due to other projects taking priority.
Key Responsibilities:
- Project Design and Documentation
- Sensor Programming (C++/Arduino)
- Sound Design (MaxMSP)
- Project build-out (soldering, general electronics work)
